The first note we are going to learn is “B”. Push the keys on your flute that correlate with the chart. With the correct keys pressed, set with good posture, take a deep breath, set your embouchure and direct your airstream beginning with a “tooh” syllable. Click the audio sample to the right to hear what this note should sound like. Practice this note a few times before going on.

The next note we are going to learn is “A”. Push the keys on your flute that correlate with the chart. Much like you did for the first note, play a few long tones on this “A”. Click the audio sample to the right to hear what this note should sound like. Practice this note a few times, then go on.

Let’s learn two more notes to finish out the first five: “F” and “E”. Practice a few long tones on each note, then practice the exercise that includes the first five notes.

These notes are quite low, and will require you to direct your airstream down more. Think about using slow, warm air to help with this.
