All instruments have what we refer to as “pitch tendencies”. These are notes that are either naturally sharp, or flat. Knowing these for your instrument and how to adjust them can be crucial for learning how to play with better intonation. Study the pitch tendencies below and work to incorporate these adjustments into your playing to add a level of maturity to your sound.

Remember that playing in tune is all about developing your ear. Work with tuners and drone pitches to help develop your ear and sense of pitch when performing on the trombone.
